Thomson Reuters is seeking a talented, multimedia-savvy commissioning editor for Africa and Asia with a good understanding of LGBTQ-related issues, strong editing skills and a keen understanding of how text can work with social media and video.
In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, commissioning and editing news and features based on the LGBTQ+ issues facing people in both Africa and Asia. London is our preferred location for this role, but other locations might also be considered.
Since Openly was launched more than four years ago, it has become the world’s leading source of impartial and balanced global news and features on LGBTQ+ matters. Building on our continued success, we are extending the team to focus more on Africa and Asia.
Last year, the Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) launched a new website, Context, focusing on tech and society, climate change and inclusive economies. The candidate will also be expected to work with Context teams to find LGBTQ+ features that fit within those three themes beyond their daily Openly duties.
The candidate will understand a variety of digital formats, including text, images, audio and video, and have a good grasp of digital and social media platforms.
